Interroll reduces material waste and saves programming/nesting time through automation upgrade

Interroll Automation LLC, based in Jeffersonville, IN, manufactures engineered to order material handling systems. Until 2007 the company outsourced all of their sheet metal lasered components, but decided to purchase a CNC laser machine to bring the operations in-house. Stephen Book, Production Controller commented; 'The increasing volume of work, our ability to improve lead times and desire to improve the quality of the finished part to our customers were all driving factors to bringing the manufacturing in-house.'

The company purchased a Hankwang 3015 CNC laser, which was supplied with JETCAM Expert 1 as standard. This allowed them to automatically import and apply tooling to CAD files using JETCAM's Single Component Automatic Processing (SCAP) facility.

As the company developed their in-house manufacturing they decided to automate their nesting processes and purchased JETCAM's Free-From High Performance nesting (FFHPN) module in April 2011 to produce highly optimized dynamically generated nests. They also updated to the latest version of JETCAM Expert, supplied by US distributor NestOne Solutions.

JETCAM launches JOC Premium II at JEC composite trade show in Paris

JETCAM International today announced the launch of a new version of its popular JETCAM Orders Controller (JOC) Premium product at the JEC Composites trade fair in Paris from 12th to 14th March.

JOC Premium II, which can be seen at stand U94, employs the companyandrsquo;s CrossTrack-style interface and builds upon the success of the JOC Lite II, released late 2012. The product provides a quick way to remotely build unlimited worksheets of components for nesting, either manually or automatically. It supports multiple JETCAM Expert systems, so can send CAD files for tooling to one Expert system while sending orders for nesting to another.

JOC Premium II has been completely re-written from the ground up and takes full advantage of todayandrsquo;s powerful PCs and operating systems. The new CAD import interface not only provides background processing, but also supports CSV import. This allows MRP systems to automatically send lists of CAD files with full part programming information (PPI) for importing to JETCAM Expert system(s). Native component files are then created and tooled for any given machine automatically and within seconds. JOC Premium II works with all native CAD files supported by JETCAM Expert, including DXF, DWG, IGES, SolidEdge, SolidWorks and AutoPOL formats.

Goetze drive Trumpf, Bystronic and Foracon punch, laser and waterjet technologies with JETCAM Expert nesting software.

The Walter Goetz Company was founded over one hundred years ago. With over 100 employees, the company provides subcontract services producing all types of semi or fully finished metal products for prototypes or small/medium sized production runs. To deliver this the company has continually purchased and upgraded a wide range of CNC cutting machines, employing a mix of laser, waterjet, punching and combination punch/laser technologies spanning several manufacturer brands.

In the mid 1990's, Mr. Stefan Burghard, Managing Director, discovered that programming the machines was becoming a bottleneck within the business; 'We had three different CAD/CAM systems in use programming the machines. It was a significant effort when, for example, a new job had to be re-programmed for another machine if a machine was unavailable due to workload or maintenance. In addition, it took a long time for staff to learn to use all three systems. If a programmer was away due to illness or holiday some production areas would stagnate because other programmers would, again, need training time on the respective software - this was time that we did not always have.'

In the attempt to commit to a single CAD/CAM system it quickly became clear that from a technical point alone it was simply not possible to use the software supplied with each machine brand to program other machines from different manufacturers, so the company researched the market for software that could drive a wider range of brands and technologies.

JETCAM launches reworked low cost order and assembly management software

JETCAM has today launched a new end user version of its popular JETCAM Orders Controller software (JOC). JOC Lite II benefits from a complete ground-up rework that delivers a user-installable product requiring less than 30 minutes training.

JOC Lite II allows users to remotely create order lists of either components or complex assembly structures for sending to JETCAM Expert for nesting. The software ships with over 20 tutorial videos which walk the user through all stages of setup and usage, and only requires paths to be set up to point to the user's JETCAM installation and geometry files.

Once installed, users can create unlimited worksheets, perhaps for different operators, machines or even by day of the week. These can be populated by dragging and dropping components or complete assemblies onto the worksheet, or by using CSV import to create and populate worksheets automatically.

Complex assembly structures can be easily created. Users start by creating their assembly and sub-assembly names and arranging them in their depth order. They then drag and drop components into any level of the assembly, specify quantities and the assembly is then ready to order. Complex assemblies multiple levels deep can be created automatically using files in directory structures - the user can right-click over a folder, select 'Create Assembly' and it is immediately available to order.

Liebert Corporation drive 19 machines across four sites with JETCAM Expert CADCAM and nesting software

Liebert Corporation, a division of Emerson Electric of St Louis manufactures air and power conditioning for computers and server rooms. They purchased their first Finn-Power Shear Genius in 1997, which was offered with JETCAM Expert by the vendor. Alan Mauerman, Senior Manufacturing Engineer, explained; 'The previous CAM software was simply not designed to support right angle shearing and was barely acceptable for creating basic X and Y g-code for machines like our standalone Amada turret punch press. It was slow to use, often displaying unexplained errors and suffered from problems importing DXF files. The JETCAM and Finn-Power machines being supplied together was a great combination as it greatly reduced our training time - we could make a nest and see our results quickly'

Since moving to JETCAM the company has aggressively expanded and upgraded its CNC machinery across several plants. Columbus OH has six Shear Genius' - mainly CNC punch with one punch/laser combination machine. All have material loading robots, with most also benefiting from right angle shear and one tied to an Express Bender machine. JETCAM drives all of the turret machines in Liebert's other facilities in Delaware, Ohio, Ironton, Ohio and Mexicali, Mexico.
